Privacy Notice
Version 1.12 — effective 2026-10-09
How albane collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use the public pages at albane.ai.
Who we are
albane is a giving platform. We help you find nonprofit causes that matter to you, give to them, and see what your giving does.
The company responsible for your personal information — the data controller, in European terms — is albane meaningful giving Inc., a Delaware corporation with its principal office at 447 Broadway, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10013.
In this policy, “albane”, “we” and “us” mean that company. “You” means anyone who uses albane — whether you give, raise funds, or represent a nonprofit.
What this policy covers
This policy covers the albane website — including the waiting-list pages at albane.ai, teams.albane.ai and albane.ai/causes, the albane Connect pages at connect.albane.ai, the contact page at albane.ai/contact, and the blog at albane.ai/blog. It does not cover the albane app, which has its own privacy policy.
The information we collect
The waiting lists and the contact form on albane.ai
Before albane opens, the public pages collect information through their own forms. You cannot create an account, make a donation or schedule one through any of them, and joining a waiting list does not guarantee access or a particular launch date.
| Form | What it collects | What we use it for |
|---|---|---|
Donor waiting listalbane.ai and teams.albane.ai |
Your name, email address, city and state of residence; optionally the cause areas that interest you; your choice about promotional email; and your confirmation that you are at least 18. | To contact you about availability and launch, and to send you promotional email only if you asked us to. Your state tells us which rules will apply to you when we open. |
Cause waiting list/causes/ |
The organisation's legal name, website, state and cause area; the name, role and email address of the person submitting the form; and their confirmation that they are at least 18. | To consider the organisation for albane's nonprofit onboarding process. Submitting the form does not approve the organisation, create a public listing, or authorise it to receive donations through albane. We do not ask for the organisation's EIN on this form; it is requested later, in albane's secure onboarding process. |
Contact form/contact/ |
The type of inquiry, your name and email address, the message you write to explain your inquiry, and optionally your city and phone number. Please do not include payment-card details, bank-account credentials, government IDs, passwords, medical information or other sensitive information in your message. | To answer your inquiry and route it to the right team. We do not add you to any marketing list because you wrote to us, and a phone number you give us here is used only to reply to that inquiry. |
With every submission we also record the version of the form's legal wording and of this notice that you were shown, the communication choices you made, your age confirmation, the date and time, and a reference for the request. We keep that as evidence of what you were told and what you chose.
These submissions are stored on a server in Spain operated by our hosting supplier (see section 6) and in a Google Workspace spreadsheet under albane's control. They are not used for any purpose other than the ones in the table above, and they are not sold or shared.
Booking a discovery call (albane Connect)
The “Book a discovery call” button on connect.albane.ai opens a booking page hosted by Google, not by albane. That page asks for your first name, last name and email address — all three required — and it has no free-text field, so there is nowhere on it to write anything else. Your use of that page is governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy.
What you enter there reaches albane as a calendar appointment in albane's own Google Workspace account, in the business calendar of the colleague who will take the call. We use it only to hold the meeting and to reply to you about it. It does not go into the spreadsheet or the server files described above, and we do not add you to any marketing list because you booked a call.
Why we use your information
albane's services are directed to people in the United States, and this notice is written for them. We use your information only for the purposes described in section 3.
Causes can reveal sensitive things about you
This deserves saying plainly rather than burying.
The cause areas you tell us interest you on the donor waiting list are optional, but they can still say something about you. We treat them with that in mind:
- Joining the waiting list never depends on choosing a cause area.
- We do not offer a health category, and we do not ask for your religion, politics, health or ethnicity, or try to infer them.
- We use your selections only for the purposes described in section 3.
- We do not send them to Google Analytics or to any advertising tool, and we do not use them to build advertising profiles.
- You can ask us to change or delete them at any time by writing to [email protected].
The cause area chosen on the cause waiting list describes the organisation’s work, not the person who submits the form.
Who else we share information with
Besides the nonprofits you give to, we share personal information with the service providers listed below, which process it to provide their service to us. We are still completing written data-processing terms with some of them.
| Provider | What it does | What it receives | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Workspace | Storing waiting-list and contact-form submissions | Everything you enter in a form on albane.ai | live |
| Google Analytics | Counting visits to albane.ai, only after you accept | Page views and technical data. Never form contents, and never a cause preference | live |
| Cloudflare | Delivering and protecting the pages at albane.ai, between your browser and our server | The IP address, and the technical details of each request to albane.ai, as it passes through. The pages at connect.albane.ai and teams.albane.ai do not go through it | live |
| HubSpot | The chat on albane.ai/causes, so that a nonprofit can ask us a question from that page | Nothing until you press the Chat with us button. After that, HubSpot's chat scripts load, including its analytics script and a tracking pixel, and it receives what you write in the chat and the technical data of each request. It is on that one page, and on no other | live |
| urbs (hosting) | Hosting the pages at albane.ai, connect.albane.ai and teams.albane.ai and the blog, on a server in Spain that it rents from IONOS | Everything you submit through the forms, kept in files on that server, and the technical details of each request to those pages | live |
| Dropbox | Keeping daily backup copies of that server, made by urbs | A copy of everything on the server, including form submissions | live |
| Slack | Letting our team see and answer chat messages sent from albane.ai/causes | What you write in the chat and the details the chat holds about you, copied to a channel in albane's Slack workspace | live |
| Google Calendar | Booking a discovery call from albane Connect | The first name, last name and email address you enter on Google's booking page, and the time you chose. The page has no free-text field | live |
Other circumstances
- Legal requirements — where we must comply with a law, a court order, or a lawful request from an authority.
- Protecting people — to investigate fraud, or to protect the rights and safety of our users, our partners or the public.
- Business changes — if albane is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may transfer to the acquirer. We will tell you before that happens, and this policy will continue to apply until you are given notice of a new one.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined under California law.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use very few, and none of them are for advertising. These pages have no accounts and no sign-in, so they set no session cookies.
Your cookie choice
When you press Accept or Reject on the cookie banner, your browser remembers that choice in its own storage so that we do not ask you again on every visit. It is strictly necessary to respect your choice, it stays in your browser, and it is kept for six months.
Analytics on albane.ai
The public pages at albane.ai, connect.albane.ai and teams.albane.ai — the donor and cause waiting lists, albane Connect, the contact page and this notice — use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and understand which pages people use.
It is off until you turn it on. No analytics cookie is set and no request is made to Google Analytics until you press Accept on the cookie banner. If you press Reject, or simply ignore the banner, nothing is loaded, and any analytics cookie already on your device is deleted. Your choice is remembered in your own browser for six months, and you can change it at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.
Analytics is used only for visitors in the United States. Before the cookie banner is shown, the page asks our own server which country your request comes from, as Cloudflare reports it to us. If you are anywhere else, or if the country cannot be determined, you are shown no banner and Google Analytics is never loaded — so no analytics cookie is set at all. That country check is a request to albane's own domain; it is not sent to anyone else, and we do not keep it beyond your browsing session.
We do not use advertising, remarketing, cross-site tracking or session-replay technologies anywhere on albane.ai.
Everything else these pages need — including the typeface they are set in — is served from albane's own domain. The one exception is the chat described below, which is fetched only if you press its button: apart from that, nothing on these pages contacts a third party unless and until you accept cookies.
The chat on albane.ai/causes
That one page — and no other — offers a chat, provided by HubSpot, so that a nonprofit can ask us something without writing an email. Its loader is not placed in the page, and it is not tied to the cookie banner either: the page shows a Chat with us button, and HubSpot is contacted only if you press it. If you never press it, your browser never contacts HubSpot. We chose it this way so that the chat works wherever you are, without anything being loaded behind your back. We show a single banner — ours. When you press the button, HubSpot's chat scripts load, and they include HubSpot's analytics script and a tracking pixel. We have switched off HubSpot's form capture on our account. We did not see HubSpot set any cookie on the page itself, but the chat runs in a frame whose storage we cannot inspect. If you do open a chat, it may store what it needs to keep that conversation open, what you write in it reaches albane through HubSpot's European data centre, and a copy of the message is sent to a channel in albane's Slack workspace.
The blog
The blog at albane.ai/blog runs on WordPress installed on the same hosting server as the other pages (see section 6), not on a third-party blogging service. Its pages serve everything from albane's own domain and carry no comment form. They set no cookie on your device unless you press Accept on the cookie banner (shown only to visitors in the United States, as described above) or sign in to the blog's administration area, which only albane's own team can do.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which you gave it to us. After that, we keep it only where we need it to comply with a legal obligation, keep our services secure, or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. When we no longer need it, we delete it or make it anonymous.
| Category | Kept for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| What you send through a form | For as long as we need it to keep you informed about launch or to answer your inquiry, or until you ask us to delete it, and in any case no longer than 365 days after you send it, not counting the backup copies described below | To contact you about launch, or to answer your inquiry |
| The record of what you were shown and what you chose | Stored with the submission it belongs to, and deleted with it 365 days after you send it, not counting backup copies | To show which version of this notice applied, and what you chose |
| A discovery-call booking | For as long as we need it for the meeting and any follow-up about it | To hold the meeting and reply to you. It stays in the calendar of the colleague who takes the call |
| Your cookie choice | 180 days, stored in your own browser | So we do not ask you again on every visit |
| Technical records of a failed submission | Up to 30 days for errors in copying a submission to the spreadsheet, and up to 365 days for the log of submissions | So we can recover a form that did not arrive and show that a submission was received. These hold no names, email addresses or IP addresses, only a reference that identifies the submission |
| Your IP address, used to limit repeated submissions | One hour | To stop abuse of the forms |
| Backup copies of our server | A rolling period of about three weeks, set by our hosting supplier's backup schedule, after which the oldest copies are replaced by newer ones. The storage service may keep deleted files for a further period that we are still confirming | To restore the pages and their data after a failure. Deleting data from the server does not change backup copies that already exist; they expire in the period described |
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights.
- Access — get a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — have inaccurate information fixed.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your information, subject to section 8.
- Portability — receive your information in a machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your information while a question is resolved.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, where we relied on consent. This does not affect what we did before you withdrew it.
- No retaliation — we will not give you a worse service because you exercised a right.
If you are in California
You also have the right to know the categories of personal information we collect, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclose to — all set out above — and the right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still ask.
How to exercise a right
Email us at [email protected]. You do not need an account to make a request. We will verify your identity before we act, and we will respond within 45 days. Where the law allows it and the request needs it, we may extend that once, and we will tell you before the first period ends.
If you are in the UK or EEA and you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to your local data protection authority. albane's services are directed to people in the United States. We do not target users in the European Union, the EEA or the United Kingdom, and we have not appointed a representative under Article 27 of the UK or EU GDPR.
How we protect your information
- Data is encrypted in transit.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant regulators where the law requires it.
Where your information is held
The public pages at albane.ai, and anything you submit through their forms, are held on a server in Spain, in the European Union, operated by our hosting supplier (see section 6). Copies of what you submit are also held in albane's Google Workspace account, and a discovery-call booking is held in albane's Google Calendar.
albane meaningful giving Inc. is a company in the United States, and our team accesses this information from both the United States and Europe. Our providers may process this information in the United States and in other countries where they or their subprocessors operate. We protect your information in transit.
You can request a copy of the safeguards we use by writing to the address in section 14.
Children
albane is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 to join a waiting list.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as albane changes. When we do, we will change the version number and the effective date at the top.
If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will say so on these pages before it takes effect and, if you are on a waiting list, tell you by email, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent again.
With every form submission we record which version of this notice was shown, so that we and you can both tell what applied at the time.
